Guide To Getting Linked

Getting links from other websites pointing to your site can sometimes seem very hard and time consuming. There are several ways to get people interested in your site, you've just got to be creative with it and think more in terms of putting yourself in the other webmaster's shoes- figure out what the advantages are for them to be linked to you!

One thing that you often hear is that to attain a high Page Rank thru Google, (which, let's face it, is the Big Daddy of Search Engines) that you have to link to other high PR sites. This is not necessarily true. No one is 100% on the relevance of PR rank affecting a link exchange. Link to as many non-link farm sites that are similar to your site as you possibly can, because the more inbound links pointing to your site that you have, the more search engines will look at your site as an important site in the business or opportunity that you are promoting or selling. So don't look down on sites that have low a low PR, everyone at one point or another has a zero PR, doesn't mean that they don't get traffic, you just never know. Just because someone has a low PR doesn't mean that they don't get monster traffic to their site, whether it's through pay-per-click advertising, or other means, so no one should turn their nose up at anyone who doesn't have a great PR.

If you are a new webmaster and have just started a new website, sell the fact that you're new, and that you're going to be focusing on putting quality CONTENT on your site. Because, A Number 1 as far as Google is concerned is to have relevant content on your site relating to your business or opportunities. Making a business grow and succeed is based solely on the ability of a webmaster to make his/or her site relevant to search engine spiders, whom look every day for great content.

Another idea is to promote what you are advertising to a webmaster, showing that the product/or opportunity is viable and is something that makes your website worth linking to. Either by having testimonials, or by having them sign up as an affiliate to see results for themselves, showing how much you believe in your opportunity might show a webmaster that you are committed to making your site everything it can possibly be, and thus, possibly giving their website more exposure.

Even with the hassles that go along with linking to other sites it really is a great way to show that your site does have importance. Being partners through links with others in your online business makes for long lasting business relationships, and support for others that are getting started. There's room for everyone to succeed online, and helping others along the way is as important to the growth of online business as anything else. Here's to your success!!

So You Want To Start A Home Based Business

Are you interested in starting a home-based business? You may want to work from home for several reasons, including dissatisfaction with your current job, because you have small children or elderly parents that require you to be at home, or you may just need the income a home-based business opportunity can provide. Since you have come this far, you are already an Internet entrepreneur ready to take the first step in creating a steady income and implementing your home-based business ideas. You can be your own boss and generate steady income with your own home-based Internet endeavors.

The first step in starting a home-based business is to develop a business plan. Researching your options thoroughly and making wise decisions can make your home-based business very successful and give you a steady stream of income, all from the comfort of your home. There are numerous business opportunities geared towards those who want to work from home. Some promise instant wealth and long lasting success for simply signing up. The truth is that any home business will require effort, marketing, and a network of contacts. The amount of work you are willing to put into your home-based Internet business is directly related to the amount of income you may earn.

Plan each step of starting your business carefully. Examine your short and long-term goals and plan how you are going to achieve them. Some home business opportunities are free while others require an investment. Check into free affiliate programs, free home-based businesses, and take a look at those which will need an upfront financial commitment from you. It is possible to earn serious cash from home, but you will have to commit to your business plan and follow it closely. A home-based business must follow certain guidelines. The difference is that the business is located in your home.

Do not restrict what you do based on self-imposed doubt and lack of confidence. If you have an idea to start your own home-based business and are truly ready to take that step towards making your dreams a reality, then develop your plan and implement it. It takes self-discipline to plan your business and your life then work towards turning your ideas into steady cash. Make informed decisions and give your home-based business the time and energy it takes to build wealth. Distinguish yourself from the competition and you will be on your way to financial independence.

It is common for those starting an Internet or other home-based business to feel as if they are getting nowhere fast. Patience, discipline, and old-fashioned hard work are the key in creating a constant cash flow. If you have the motivation and discipline it takes, you can operate your own successful home-based business, generate the income you need, and enjoy the freedom of being your own boss.

Advertising Using PPC Search Engines

Internet technology offers vast opportunities to promote your business with virtually no advertising borders, and you can find countless sources online directing you towards budget marketing via pay-per-click search engines for maximum effectiveness in the information age.

Enterprising people know all the benefits of optimizing their online advertising, and because of this fact the ‘pay-per-click’ (PPC) technique has been developed to meet the need. PPC is certainly at the cutting edge of Internet advertising today, because you ‘bid’ or budget on the exact amount you want to put into your advertising campaign, giving you the choice to state just how much you’ll pay each time someone clicks on your ad.

For instance, if you bid five cents a click, that’s how little you’ll pay for your advertising - and you’ll only have to pay that five cents each time a consumer clicks on your ad! Budget marketing via pay-per-click search engines should encompass the following integral steps of creating, optimizing and managing your advertising campaign or ‘sponsored search’ on the most widely used search engines including Google, Yahoo, MSN, Earthlink, American Online, Ask Jeeves and CNN.com - just to name a famous few!

The most widely touted benefit of budget marketing via pay-per-click search engines is that it delivers your product information and your web site to the very consumers online who are searching for such products, be it business, science or technology-related, trips and travel, car buying, entertainment ideas or wedding planning! Your business specifically reaches those already interested in knowing more, and enthusiasts of budget marketing via pay-per-click search engines will tell you that no other advertising medium can give you that kind of bang for your advertising buck.

Other pluses of budgeting via PPC are that your ad can be targeted to regions you specify, whether you want the entire world to know, or just focus on your local area at the moment. Your ad can also be tracked towards search engines that receive the highest amount of keywords specific to the product or service on your website. Whether you have a home based business or you’ve just been appointed Director of a countrywide multi-national, your business will benefit from budget marketing via pay-per-click search engines.

What Do You Do In A Work
At Home Business?

The simplest possible answer to this can be summed up as "Work at Home Business is an occupation which can be operated from home, without having to step out of the house for any official purpose and that, it will generate an income or profit".

Work at home business is relatively a new concept. Fundamental requirements to work at home are very very few. And therefore very encouraging. You should have a computer and access to internet. That's all. The remaining requirements pave their own way.

Choose a business:Surf and search the net well before finally joining a work at home business. Talk to senior successful members, who are more than likely to give you a fair view of the situation. Check out whether or not the work at home program you are joining has a 24X7 online support system. Also, find out for how long has the company been in business.

Choose domain name: its your shop on the net Now that you are ready with the work at home product and are satisfied with credentials of the company you are joining, you will need an office or shop, where you will showcase the product. Its a platform from which you will address your visitor who might be a potential buyer! Getting close to our goal...

To build your business, you need to promote your shop:You are all set to begin the journey once you have the domain name registered. Its the name of your shop. And your shop on the net is nothing but your website. So here you are, getting ready to design a website and uploading it. If you do not know how to do it, do not be least worried. In all probabilities your team leader will happily help you with the basics. And as you start promoting your site, you will learn on way and will be able to change the layout etc and add value to it on your own. Its all very simple. There are many techniques to promote your site. They are common sense based ways. Again your team leader will always be around and the company you have joined will have all the fodder you need to build your work at home business.

Getting close to the ultimate objective: Ultimate objective of promoting your site is to get as close as possible to your potential buyer. How you do it.. is like I said, you will learn when you get there. And this is where all the hard work, smart work, earning, executing, getting results etc etc lies. You need to put in regular hours everyday, because you are not just promoting your site, you are also learning new things everyday. Coming across free Trail Offers' software's and downloads to promote your business. You are learning, absorbing, building, improving everyday....even after being in the business for around two years...I come across new ways to promote my site every now and then. Like they say, learning never stops ( neither does the buck!), holds true in work at home business to `T'.... Why You Need To Add High Quality
Articles To Your Website

When it comes to drawing visitors and search engine robots content is King. And, when it comes to content, no King is more powerful than a high quality article. Here's why:

Some web site owners are in constant sell, sell, sell mode. All their copy does is scream 'give me your credit card number' which a lot of people find offensive.

When the average consumer sets out to make a purchase they begin by looking for information. They search on key words and phrases and, studies have shown, they ignore the paid listings that appear on the top of the results page. They're not ready to buy yet, they're 'just looking'. If you happen to have a well written article sitting up near the top of the search engine results then your site is going to be one of their 'just looking' destinations.

Now that you've succeeded in dragging that surfer's eyeballs over to your page, what are you going to serve them?

Your best results will come from articles that do not come off as 'infomercials'. You can easily establish yourself as an expert in the search engine terms that brought the visitor to your site without even mentioning their credit card. Then, by simply putting a link to your web site in the author's 'resource box', which is the spot where you list your name and, perhaps, a brief bio, people who found your article interesting will click to visit your site. And that's how sales happen!

People buy when they feel comfortable with the person or company that they are buying from. In most cases a savvy consumer ranks trust and comfort even above price when making a buying decision. When you present yourself as an expert, and you don't try to reach into the reader's pocket, then you are building trust.

Of course, the more articles you have the more trust that you establish. That's why it is a good idea to write several short articles, around 500 to 600 words, or so, on various sub topics. This not only makes your articles easier to read and digest, but it gives you more exposure to the reader and, thus, more credibility.

So, for example, if you wanted to establish yourself as an expert on garden ponds, because you sell garden pond supplies, then you might write a series of articles with these subjects:

1. Garden Ponds 101: A guide for beginners
2. Summer Garden Pond Tips
3. Fall Garden pond Tips
4. Winter Garden pond Tips
5. Spring Garden Pond Tips

Now, instead of having one huge article you end up with a series of highly relevant articles for the visitor to read. As an added bonus, if you use your title and key phrases correctly, you should get a lot of traffic when someone searches for 'Winter garden pond tips' for example.

At the bottom of each article you would add your resource box that might say something like:

'Joe Jones is the resident water garden expert at www.SampleWatergardens.com and has been building, maintaining, and enjoying water gardens for 25 years. His backyard pond won the 'Pond of the Year' award from ThePeopleWhoAwardTheseTypesofThings. Click here to see some pictures.'

That little resource box has a big job and it does it well. It sets the author's name out in front of everyone; it establishes him as an expert and mentions his web site, and it dangles some bait: Click here to see some pictures. You can bet your last buck that people will want to see those pictures.

Now, if Joe Jones is smart, those pictures will be hosted on his web site along with a banner that says something like 'Buy one pH test kit and get an oxygen test kit FREE' or something else that will make the cash register ring. Once you get a sale from that loss leader, you have captured everything that you need to continue marketing to that customer.

Let's take a quick look at how this all came about.

1. You wrote an informative article that didn't have any of the usual sales come-on stuff in it.

2. You got the article listed in the search engines (read my article on 'Why Search Engine spiders love article directories').

3. You put an informative resource box at the end of the article which provided a reason for the person to click and visit a specially prepared landing page on your main site.

4. That landing page had a special offer that was designed to convert the visitor to a customer.

5. You made the cash register ring!

It doesn't always go that smoothly but, if you do it right, you should see a good increase in traffic and corresponding sales. Try it and see for yourself.

Be Wary of Work-At-Home Schemes

Be wary of work-at-home schemes as they are not all that they may seem. The adverts promise big monetary gain but invariably prove to be a let down. While you may find these ads appealing, especially if you can't work outside your home, proceed with caution. Not all work-at-home opportunities deliver on their promises.

Many ads omit the fact that you may have to work many hours without pay. Or they don't disclose all the costs you will have to pay. Countless work-at-home schemes require you to spend your own money to place newspaper ads; make photocopies; or buy the envelopes, paper, stamps, and other supplies or equipment you need to do the job.

Here are two typical examples of work-at-home-schemes:

Envelope stuffing: Promoters usually advertise that, for a "small" fee, they will tell you how to earn money stuffing envelopes at home. Later - when it's too late - you find out that the promoter never had any employment to offer. Instead, for your fee, you're likely to get a letter telling you to place the same "envelope-stuffing" ad in newspapers or magazines, or to send the ad to friends and relatives. The only way you'll earn money is if people respond to your work-at-home ad.

Assembly or craft work: These programs often require you to invest hundreds of dollars in equipment or supplies. Or they require you to spend many hours producing goods for a company that has promised to buy them. For example, you might have to buy a sewing or sign-making machine from the company, or materials to make items like aprons, baby shoes or plastic signs. However, after you've purchased the supplies or equipment and performed the work, fraudulent operators don't pay you. In fact, many consumers have had companies refuse to pay for their work because it didn't meet "quality standards."

Unfortunately, no work is ever "up to standard," leaving workers with relatively expensive equipment and supplies - and no income. To sell their goods, these workers must find their own customers.

Here are some questions you might ask a promoter:

What tasks will I have to perform?

Will I be paid a salary?

Will my pay be based on commission?

Who will pay me?

When will I get my first pay cheque?

What is the total cost of the work-at-home program?

What will I get for my money?

The answers to these questions may help you determine whether a work-at-home program is appropriate for your circumstances, and whether it is legitimate.

How To Increase Your Profits
Without Spending A Dime

Whatever the purpose of your web site you have to pay for certain services. As a bare minimum you will need to pay for hosting, for traffic and for an autoresponder account. The costs of these services are fixed irrespective of the number of sales that you can make.

lets say that your total fixed costs for these services are 0 a year and that you sell 50 eBooks a year at . That means that your income is 50 and, after paying your fixed costs you are making 0 profit each year. So your profit represents about 63% of your sales income.

Now, lets say your current conversion rate of unique visitors to sales is about average at 2%. So to get 50 sales you need 2,500 unique visitors.

To boost their sales income, most people will try to increase the traffic to their web site by spending money on Pay Per Click campaigns, advertising in ezines or by investing in banner adverts. If you don't want to spend your hard earned cash, then you will need to invest a lot of time on article writing and other "do it yourself" promotional activities.

What if you could nearly double your profit in a few easy steps?

It is very easy. You simply have to closely examine your web site and look for ways of improving the impact that you are having on your customer. Look at your headline, does it really grab the attention of your visitors? Do the first few paragraphs of your sales copy draw in your visitor and encourage them to read further? Are your testimonials conveying a strong and powerful endorsement of your product? Are you making good use of text colour to emphasise the important trigger words in your copy?

Did you know that there are over 21 critical elements within a typical sales letter page?

When I first launched my web site (http://www.Test-and-Track.com) my conversion rate was less than 1%. Since then, I have tested and tweaked every key element of the entire sales process and my conversion rate is now over 3.5%. Oh, by the way, I am still working on it!

Let's look at the bottom line. If you can implement a few simple improvements to your web site and increase your sales conversion rate to just 3%, you will make an additional 25 sales without increasing your costs. 25 sales at will put an additional 5 in your pocket. Your fixed costs are still the same so it is all pure profit!

Can you afford to leave that money on the table?

Testing And Tracking To
Improve Your Conversions

Creating an effective sales letter page is an essential part of your online success. However, unless you're testing and tracking each critical element in your sales content and your sales process, you may be losing a great deal of time and money.

You can dramatically increase your sales conversions simply by taking the time to test and track your results. Not only will testing and tracking enable you to determine what's working and what's not, but it will also help you to focus your energy on the techniques that produce results.

When testing, keep in mind that, a technique that produces results for one person or one web site may not produce results for you or for your web site. There is no one size fits all technique that works for everyone. You must develop your own style and technique and test your results to determine what works for you. So, what are we measuring? Well, you may think that I am over simplifying matters here but I believe that there is only one real measure and that is simply the outcome of your visitors’ decision when faced with a choice. Whatever your most wanted response is your visitor will either say yes or no. Every decision, or call to action, that you want a prospect to take must be tracked. The result of that tracking will be a yes or a no. When you know that a specific number of visitors took the desired action, and the remainder did not, you can analyse your results. If you take the total number of unique yes calls to action, and you divide them by the total number of unique visitors to the web page you will know your conversion rate. For example, if 1,000 people visit a web page where you have an ezine opt-in form, and 30 people opt-in, your conversion ratio for that opt-in form is 3% (30/1000). So what parts of your web page should you try to improve? Here is a list of web page elements that you should focus your attention on:

1. Headline
2. First few paragraphs
3. Follow up
4. Deadline
5. Scarcity
6. Delayed payment option
7. Price
8. Upgrade
9. Downgrade
10. Good until cancelled
11. Guarantee
12. Immediate back end sale
13. Bonus items
14. Reposition your offer
15. Alternative colours and graphics
16. Readability
17. Complementary product endorsements
18. Header graphic
19. Order page
20. Payment process
21. Navigation links
22. Everything else!

When you are testing and tracking make sure that you only work on one element at a time. If you change two variables and you see an improvement in conversion ratios you will not be able to identify which one factor made the contribution.

You should also bear in mind that some changes may result in poorer performance; you may get less sign ups to your ezine or less people buying your product. This is not a failure it simply means that you have discovered a tactic that doesn’t work for your audience or your product.

One final point, be patient. The expert statisticians will tell you that you need at least 25 actions for a test to be

statistically valid. That means 25 new ezine subscribers or 25 sales. Anything less than that and your test results will not really be accurate enough. In fact the more results the better, you should consider 25 to be the absolute minimum and aim to get 30 to 40 if you can.

Why Search Engine Spiders
Love Article Directories

Search engines thrive on content. Graphics may be pretty but unless you are specifically looking for images, they don't show up in the Google main index page. Keywords and phrases are what it takes to get a good ranking.

When a search engine spider hits your web site it is looking for spider food. Just like a real person does, a spider looks for meaningful content that is in plentiful supply. The best kind of meaningful content to feed a spider with is well- written and well-researched articles on a topical subject.

As a rule of thumb, you will get ranked higher when your web pages meet these conditions:

1. Relevant keywords and phrases are present and distributed correctly throughout your article.

2. Other web sites link to your articles.

3. You update your content regularly.

Although all three of these requirements are of equal importance, requirement # 3 is worth understanding. Once a robot or spider realizes that you update your content regularly they will visit your site more often. Like a neighborhood gossip, spiders are afraid that they'll miss something juicy and they don't want to do that.

In my article entitled 'The benefits of adding high quality articles to your web site' I told you about how to create articles that people would want to read. I mentioned that one of the keys to getting people to read your article is for them to be able to locate the articles in the search engines. Catering to the spiders is exactly how you get listed and get a good listing at that.

Spider make certain assumptions about the quality and relevance of your articles by examining the keywords and phrases that they think you think are important.

These spiders decide what you think is important by examining the frequency of the keywords and phrases, the titles and paragraph headers that you use, and words that appear bolded or emphasized. Of course, there are a lot of other things that they look at, including, to some extent, meta tags, but keywords and phrases are what will attract visitors when they are looking for information on your pet subject.

Because spiders love to eat text, and since they seek out the juiciest text to determine ranking, it's important that you make sure that your keywords appear in your headings, subheadings, bolded or emphasized words, and your hyperlinks. Don't just put 'click here' when formulating a hyperlink, use keywords in between the tags.

Doing all of this ensures that spiders are well-fed and that they will index every word in your article as their way of thanking you for a good meal.

Once your site gets a reputation as being a good place to eat, those spiders will return again and again to have their fill. And that's how sales are made!

5 Steps To Improve Your
Google Page Rank

Google Page rank is based on back links. Back links are Links pointing to your website from another website. The more back links you have the higher your PR will be.

1. Join forums, forums are a great way to achieve links to your website. In most forums you are allowed to have a signature and in your signature you can put a link to your website. But another important note to look on is making sure the forum is somewhat related to your website. You will still get credit if it's not, but if it's related to your website than you will be accomplishing two tasks at once.

You will be advertising for your website (bringing in targeted traffic) You will also be building your websites presence.

Your websites presence is very important to your survival. The more people see, or hear about your website the more credibility you will have and this increases your chances of having these visitors come back and possibly become leads.

2. Submit to search engine directories. Search engine directories are a good way to get a free link to your website. They also increase your chances at being listed higher on popular search engines like Google, and overture.

Most search engine directories allow you to submit to their website for free. This will allow you to increase your web presence by being listed on another search engine, and it will also be a free link.

Remember the more links you have the higher your PR will be

3. Using ezine ads (or newsletters). Creating an ezine will probably be the most beneficial step you can take to increasing your web presence. When you create an ezine you will be able to keep visitors coming back to your website for more by using signatures and giving special deals.

Ezine's will also allow you to increase your back links. By creating an ezine you can submit your information about your ezine to an ezine directory. This directory will than link to your website(thus giving you a free link).

4. Creating and publishing articles. Articles are an easy source of generating new traffic. You can include your signature in your article. This will bring in more traffic from article submission directories.

Your signature usually consists of 4 to 8 lines. Usually the first line would be the title of the website that you are trying to advertise. The last line would be the link to the website and the lines in between these would be a sales pitch to draw your viewers into your website.

5. Links from related websites. Gaining links from related websites can be one of the most frustrating tasks you can attempt.

They are very easy to find, but can be somewhat difficult to obtain links from.

To find related websites, all you have to do is go to a search engine... say Google... and type in your subject. Maybe your website is based on ford mustangs.

You go to Google and type in ford mustangs, than you look around for pages that are somewhat related to your website. After you have done this (which should be very easy) you have to contact them in some way to get your link posted on their website. This can be the most difficult task because a lot of webmasters ignore e-mail's from people requesting links because they don't see the importance of it at the time. Some other reasons could be that they are rarely online, or they delete spam mail and sometimes delete their important emails in the process.

Important note: When looking for link partners don't just link with websites that have a page rank of 4 or higher. Link with anyone and everyone you get a chance to. If you link to someone that has a page rank of zero, this will not hurt your page rank. It will only increase it because you are getting a link back to your website. Google doesn't look at your back links page ranks to determine what yours is going to be. It simply looks at how many back links you have.

So if Google one day decided to link to a website that was just created and this website has a page rank of 0 and has a domain that goes something like this: mywebsite.geocities.com it's page rank wouldn't increase even though Google's page rank is 10, it's rank would still be zero because it would only have that one back link.

What To Test
And How To Test It

As I'm sure you will appreciate, I get asked a lot of questions about testing and tracking and the most frequently asked question is: What should I track? This is closely followed in popularity by "How should I test it? And, the third most popular question is: What is the best testing and tracking tool available?

Well, the answer to the first question is easy: Everything! Seriously, I mean it, you should test everything; and I don't simply mean your web page. You should test your entire sales and marketing process from start to finish.

Test you ezine adverts, your banner ads, your Pay Per Click campaign, everything. Test every single element on your web page, especially your headline and the first 250 words or so. You only have a limited amount of time to grab the attention of your visitor and to draw them into your web page so that first impression must be a good as you can make it.

Test your pop-up windows, your pop-under windows, your order form and every part of the payment process. I read an article by Marty Foley this morning and he has discovered through testing and tracking that at least 40% of people abandon the purchase even up to the point of entering their credit card details!

How to test it...

The simplest way of testing is to implemet a split run test. If you are testing two ezine ads then you might sedn one ad to half your list and then send the other ad to the other half of your list. You could then track the responses to see which ad generated the most click throughs.

Similarly on your web site you could use a simple script to swerve two web pages alternately so that 50% of your visitors see page "A" and the other 50% see page "B". Obviously, the page that generates the most ezine sign ups or product sales can then be made your default page.

The best testing and tracking tool...

I'm going to give you the "consultant" answer to this one! It depends, on your budget, what you want to test, if you want to use an external testing and tracking service or if you want to install your own script. There are lots of alternatives and its own strengths and weaknesses.

The most important question is...

When are you going to make a start with your testing and tracking campaign? I managed to test and to tweak my web site to increase my sales conversion by a staggering 317% in less than three weeks. If you are not testing and tracking you are missing out on lost sales.

5) Joint Ventures

A Joint Venture is just that you do jointly with one or more parties. This method isn\'t only limited to those with their own product, as many people think. The way this works is by setting up a deal with a person who has a very large customer base already. What you do is literally \"tap into\" their resources. You see, they have already done the hard part (creating a list of people who have already bought from them). Now all you do is simply email them with a special proposal, and have them recommend your product/service to their list. This alone can product thousands of website visitors to your website. And in the end, can yield massive profits for you if done properly.

6) Paid Advertising On High Traffic Sites

Sometimes, you will find a website that allows advertising on their site. For a reasonable price, they will display your link and sometimes a description for a weekly or monthly fee.

7)Pay Per Click

This is you do need to pay for some advertising. And using pay per clicks allow you to drive very targeted traffic to your website.

8) Google Adwords Another great way to grab traffic before you have to shell out your money is by utilizing Google Adwords. TO learn more about this, please visit Google Adwords tips at: https://www.adwords.google.com
